Random Walk Compass

Most tools are built to optimize, predict, and accelerate. This one randomizes. Spin the compass, follow the bearing, and accept wherever it leads. A practice of deliberate aimlessness in a world organized around efficiency.
Spin
Tap anywhere to spin to a new random direction. Follow it, then spin again.
Autoplay
Set the compass to spin on a timer, anywhere from once a second to once a minute. Set it down and let it lead. The rhythm becomes meditative.
Walk Mode
The compass face locks to true North using your device's heading sensor, so cardinal directions stay fixed as you move through the world.
Steps Mode
Each spin pairs a direction with a random step count drawn from a range you set, giving a complete instruction for every leg of the walk.
Voice Mode
Clap or make a sound to trigger a spin. The microphone listens for sound above a threshold you control, keeping your hands free.
GPS Recording
Record your route and watch your path appear live on the map. Recording continues in the background, even when your screen is locked.
Export
Save your walk as a GPX file, GeoJSON, CSV spreadsheet, a map image, or an animated MP4 video.
